If you want a ground cover thyme that works to fill in fast, then choose Caraway Thyme. Scented like a Caraway seed, it is one of the few thyme ground covers to have a fragrance. It has deep green leaves that are set about a half inch apart along reddish stems. Caraway Thyme is suitable for planting where it won't be a problem that it grows aggressively. It is not suitable for small spaces like between flagstones. Caraway Thyme can be used as a substitute for real Caraway in any recipe. It is especially nice in bread or cooked with meat. The species name herba-barona translates herb of beef and refers to medieval times when herbs were frequently used to spice up meat that had gone just a wee bit past its expiration date. About 25-50 seeds per pack. I prefer to begin mine in the spring because then you see them growing, you know they are growing, and if you need to, you can move them into their permanent positions before they get too comfortable. Though the spring planted may not bloom as much the first year, they have the entire season to grow root systems and foliage. The next spring, look out. Your plants will be HUGE and the number of flower stalks increased. Fall planting is nice, too, but if you are looking for impact, spring planting one year before is (my opinion) the best way to go. Spring planted the previous season will increase the bloomage. Trying to start Hollyhocks on a heated germination mat is not advised. Don't try to rush your hollyhocks, they will come up when they get ready to. Don't assume that since package 'A' popped up in three days that all of your seeds should. The best way I have found to grow hocks is to lay the seed on the surface of well-tilled soil, then using a screen mesh collander, shake soil on top of the seed, a little less than 1/4" layer of sifted soil. Keep moist and do not let your seeds dry out once planted. Be patient and don't give up!

Nest boxes are readily accepted, and other, more unusual, locations noted include cans in garbage heaps, large abandoned hornet nests, old shoes, boots, hats, or the pockets of a scarecrow. Once an appropriate site is selected, the wrens fill the nest cavity with coarse twigs, sticks, and grass. The nest is lined with feathers, wool, hair, or catkins. This wren's box is made of cedar and easy to hang.

Yarrow has multiple medicinal qualities. It contains over 100 biologically active compounds. The fresh herb can be used as a styptic poultice. It has been used similarly by native cultures throughout the northern hemisphere.
